On trying out this hello-world ...

Code:
SinOsc s => dac; // Connects (ChucKs) a sine wave --> "Digital Analog Converter"
0.5 => s.gain;   // Sets oscillator gain to 0.6 --> "How loud"
220 => s.freq;   // Sets oscillator frequency to 220
0.1::second => now; // Lets it play for a second

... I get no sound at all in miniAudicle. Probing several things ...

Code:
0,5 => s.gain
(1/2) => s.gain
(10.0 / 20.0) => s.gain

... but without success.

During showering, I develop the idea of switching my box to US-English (UTF-Cool. Et voila, it works.

Interestingly, this only applies to miniAudicle, but not the chuck on the command line.

Switching back to German reproduces the results.

Here are my system details:

OS: Linux Mint 18.3 x64 (uname -a: Linux [...] 4.15.0-38-generic #41~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 10 20:16:04 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)

$ chuck --version
