Subject description: How to make SOP14-16 to DIP adapers to fit into IC sockets - intro

In the times where almost everything for electronics DIY is available, it is strange that there is so hard (at reasonable prices) to get SOP14 and SOP16 to DIP14 and DIP16 adapters allowing to put thing into IC socket.

So I decided to make my own, using three available PCB types of such adapters.

To put adapter into IC socket you need special "precision" pin connectors (pin headers), not "ordinary" goldpins. Goldpins are to thick to put it into socket. Pins should have 0.5-0.6 mm in diameter to be able to put them into different IC sockets ("precision" socket and "ordinary" socket). Pins often have different diameters from the opposite sides e.g.0.76 mm from the up and 0.6 mm from the bottom - 0.76 mm pin must be soldered to the pcb and 0.6 mm pin left for the socket. Always better to check in the manufacturer's datasheet, if available. If you are using only "ordinary" IC sockets, you may use even 0.4 mm pins.

For the two types of adapters we will need straight pin connectors, for one type - angled ones.
