One-off or irregular show bookings |
|
|
EDIT: see http://electro-music.com/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Radio.BroadcastingInfo for more on how to broadcast on electro-music.com.
To avoid unnecessary scheduling conflicts, could everyone who wants to do a one-off or irregular radio show on the main port of radio. electro- music.com please post date and time details (start time and length) here to book a slot. All times must be in GMT.
This is the current schedule:
When booking are added to this thread a stream op will add them to the schedule so that all irregular and one-off shows are easily visible
Please try to avoid scheduling a one-off show against a regular show as these will have priority. If there are any accidental scheduling conflicts these will be resolved when they become apparent. _________________ Jez

Since there is an apparent clash between Commuter's Diary part II and Chez Jez tomorrow, Jez asked me to move back a bit, which is fine by my. My show is actually a bit less than an hour and a half, so could you please move me back one hour, to... whatever GMT that ends up being (I can only see my local time here and I'm afraid to do the math in my weary head). I'll play just before Jez at any rate.

Hi
Just wondering when is the best time frame to arrange the once-off show?
There could be a huge time gap around the world. Say If we plan a show at night, the stream operator needs to get up at 6:00am.... _________________ http://soundcloud.com/fkyfkyfky |

Not necessarily .. if you would use the sc_trans connection you could switch yourself; to be able to use sc_trans you can not use ed/oddcast tho, but will have to use nicecast or butt. _________________ Jan

It is one of the tools we use for streaming; it handles the play list, but it also supports what they call DJ connections. When a DJ connects that will take over the stream on main. So there is no switching involved then, but it will not work properly with the good old edcast / oddcast software.
When streaming from a Mac you could use Nicecast, if you have that, or otherwise install Butt - Butt is available for PC and Linux too : http://butt.sourceforge.net/
When you want to try things out, you can set up Nicecast or Butt to connect to electro-music.com on port 9878 with password public:public (exactly as I wrote it, with the : (colon) and all). To listen to that test stream you can tune in to port 8054. It should be set in shoutcast mode, the bit rate and audio format is not too critical - it will be transcoded to 44 kHz 128 kbps stereo by sc_trans (and that is where it gets it's name )
When ready to run a show just give me a date and time in GMT, a duration, an artist name and a name for the show/preformance - I'll make a schedule entry for it then and that will cause the event to be listed on the site here automagically. And then for the real show you just use port 9876 instead of the testport. _________________ Jan

As I posted in the radio schedule thread, I feel that a regular show is not working for me right now, so I guess in the future, you'll be hearing from me here when I'm ready for the next show. |

Pre-EM2011 show on September 7 Subject description: How is 6-8 PM Eastern Daylight Time on Sept. 7? |

How is 6-8 PM Eastern Daylight Time on September 7?
That would be 18:00 until 20:00 EDT, which I believe is 22:00 until midnight GMT. Only 4 hours when we Pennsylvanians are in daylight savings time, I think.
The event is a computer music seminar that will include two pieces by myself and some students in our university's planetarium. Michael O'Bannon has very graciously agreed to stop over on his way to electro-music 2011 to perform video magic on the planetarium dome. Between pieces Michael will give a talk and demo on EEG-to-music and some of his development process, and I will give some kind of technical talk.
It is likely to run a little less than 2 hours, so we can say 90 minutes if that makes sense. This may run into Jez or Rob's Adventures, although with electro-music 2011 kicking off two days later, it may not. If so, we can always record it and stream the good bits later.
The planetarium has an interesting placement of 5 speakers around the base of the dome + subwoofer, not exactly surround 5.1 placement, but, given a circular room, circular seating and heads pointed towards a domed ceiling, it's bound to be unique. Jeremy and Dr. Phill Reed of the Physics Dept. and I did sound and projector checks yesterday. It promises to be fun _________________ When the stream is deep

Yeah it would overlap then with AIS which runs from 22:00 to 23:00 - it is 4 hours indeed ... too bad, it would make for an interesting show. _________________ Jan

As far as I can tell, that's Jez' turn, and he would be on his way to EM2011 then I suppose? _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

Yes, it will probably be my week, and I will hopefully be somewhere in the US. Too early to say yet if I'll be doing a live show, depends where I am, however, I would try to be flexible with times if I am _________________ Jez
