hi,

is it possible to create the nordlead 3 synched noise on the g2? tbh, I'm not sure what it's doing so I have no idea how to patch something like this. The manual says the following:

"This will produce very special signals with non-transposed formant spectrum with strong “body resonance” characteristics. The reason ‘synched noise’ works at all is that it’s the same series of frequencies that are synched (repeated over and over). "

I've had a search and can't find anything here so hopefully the first response won't be a link to another discussion Smile

t.i.a.

I think it is equal to driving a RndClk module with a fixed high frequency, and feeding a regular tracking oscillator into the Rst input. The constant level at the seed input sets the wave shape.

The result doesn't sound like noise though. I think on the classic it was called a formant oscillator (a better name).

Here is a demo patch.

Funny, I was working on the same idea with basically the same patch, except that I used the random pattern generator and made the variations in wave shape stepwise with the A and B inputs. But I got distracted a bit ... the thing went noodly on me .. anyway, a variation on the idea.

I was trying to get this "Synched Noise" from the NL3-NL2 too.
Since i own a NL3 i was able to compare the real stuff and got a more similar sound with a hi (96%) pw saw oscillator sended to the pitch shifter.
So at the end i believe that the "Synched Noise" has more to do with a ring modulated oscillator than noise at all.
Now i need to figure out how to add the "stepped" harmonics knob.
