oooo - a sunday happening on the radio Subject description: Recording of jam |
|
|
I am not sure what actually sparked this jam to start, but I think it has something to do with Jfox and Phobos. Anyway, it lasted for several hours, 8 I think, maybe more, and attached is this 3+ hour "snippet".
Participators: Phobos, Blue Hell, Jfox, erm... me, Dr Steve (in the form of samples) and probably more... Did I forget anyone?
Probably did... anyway, enjoy.

Thomas was in it too, not sure if in the recorded bit ... he dropped out early to be fresh for his exam today.
Listening now ... weird though ... playing it went way faster than listening
Thanks for rebeaming, joining, recording & posting it Rob. _________________ Jan

Ah, Thomas! How could I forget!
I didn't get much sleep last night, that's probably why - but it was worth it. Great experience! Thanks guys, I enjoyed it very much. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

oooo from PHOBoS' perspective Subject description: what happened |
|
|
oooo - here's how it went from my perspective. It started somewhere late in the afternoon with me just playing some of my recorded music over my new stream. jfox started listening, adding stuff to it and I picked up his stream to mix in. I started mutiple winamps so I could mix some more EM music into the mix aswell.
After a while I mentioned it in the chat and Blue Hell joined in to add more washing and also some extra sounds (I'm not sure if he started doing that from the start but I heard some really great stuff later on), so I also mixed in his stream. At that point it already started to get pretty confusing.
Then wmonk joined in with some very spacy sounds (at least, that's one of the things he did) so that got added to the mix for even more confusion. And for a final finish Rob picked up the stream and connected to electro-music radio main and I think he also added some extras. But it was pretty hard to determine who was doing what at that point. (I mixed in the main stream sometimes for more washing)
Besides mixing all these streams with some occasional mp3's added, I also mixed in the only thing I had connected which is my bent CASIO SA-8 connected to a delay, sometimes switched out for my bombarion (beeping/bleeping device that's almost finished). And I even added some samples using youtube (trying to be carefull not to cause any copyright problems).
Something that I probably should mention here is that I've been a (bedroom)DJ for many years and I'm used to mixing. But with this setup using all kinds of live streams (not knowing what really was coming in) was very different and very confusing. So sometimes things went a bit out of control. But I think all in all it did go pretty well (I haven't listened to the recording yet).
It was a wonderfull experience and I really like to thank jfox, blue hell, wmonk and Rob for all there contributions and making this possible. (and Dr.Steve for his wonderful VZ piece). And before I forget, I'm very grateful that it was recorded since I couldn't do that myself.
edit: one more thing I have to mention; Dr. Steve (and maybe some other listeners) also added clicking noises by typing my name in the chat
edit2: added some artwork

I enjoyed the 3+ hours I heard. Looking forward to listening the additional "pre-jam" material. (Thanks for the explanation of how the oooo Sunday Happening Event happened!!)
