Among other things like an oscilloscope to be hooked up anywhere IN the editor,
I really want this "guitar MIDI mode" Even my Yamaha FB01 has it...
I just filled in the feedback form at Clavia.se quoting the forum, like Calude Voiot (gruezi) pointing the exact right direction.
I wrote:"Imagine what players like Pat Metheney, Allan Holdsworth, Robert Fripp, Steve Morse, Adrian Belew, Al Di Meola... would wring out of a NORD Modular!"
Three yahoo fora for guitar synths are discussing the possibilities of using the guitars MIDI signal to modulate the processing of the audio signal.
As rumour has it there might a Micro Modular G2 some time- as an answer to Waldorf's Blofeld...
Like Calude said:"with some marketing in the right circles..." - Nord 'd blow away anything on the market.
So, fellas, could we please squeeze them a bit for their own advantage?

| I honestly feel that a G2 (or some Clavia modular) would make a great guitar "effect" pedal. If they make a micro, I think it should have a few foot switches on it, along with a control pedal input. My SansAmp Bass DI has really great switches that are easily pressed with your fingers, for example. So it can be either desktop or just thrown on the floor. Add some FET inputs, and they could really have something! (as well as some differential outputs!!) |

Yes- the Nords would give them much more of a palette of sounds to choose from;)
Holdsworth recorded Atavacron in the 80's, using the SynthAxe, which is a guitar-shaped "thing", which lets guitar players trigger midi devices, without having to use a keyboard (or other) device.
However the lag between the trigger and sound were somewhat prohibitive for many players, as they had to adjust their playing technique to use the Synthaxe effectively. He used the Oberheim Xpander (for one ) synth on that album, which is 6-way multi-timbral. But given that the genre of the album is fusion, ugghh.
Roland came out with the GX-77 (?) something or other in the early 90's, which had much much better triggering, but required a special guitar (but a real guitar at least) or that the trigger pickup be mounted on your guitar.
The Oberheim Matrix 1000 has a midi guitar mode which lets each voice be triggered on different channels, but using the same patch. However, you can chain up to 6 Matrix 1000s together to get a multi-timbral "guitar mode" synth, or 36-note polyphony.
